Renovated Office Building
Project type
Federal Government
Location
Seattle, Washington
Duration
2018 - 2024
Size
24,000 SF; $1,300,000 FF+E
The size and scope of this project changed several times through the years. This started with a Federal Department that was moving buildings due to the lease not being renewed. They were looking to lease space on three floors of a federal office building to house 350 employees among 14 agencies. As the lead designer on this project, I worked with GSA to work through the design phases with the end users incorporating and adjusting for their comments. I produced a scope of work, furniture drawings and FF+E specifications to be used in a competitive bid process.
The project was put on hold when the pandemic hit. After adjusting to teleworking though the lockdown, the Department decided to adjust their space to support Hybrid rolls instead of full time office workers. I worked with GSA and the end users to reduce their needed space to one story and approximately 100 touchdown stations with additional supporting spaces. During this time I oversaw another Interior Designer on space planning a section of the floor.
During all design phases I maintained Independent estimates for all 14 agencies along with a total project estimate for the Department. This included using ratios of agency staff numbers to divide the cost of shared spaces evenly. This allowed the Department to request the appropriate funding for each agency.
Competitive bids where collected using the scope of work, specification and drawings that I completed. The project was successfully installed and the Department was able to move into their new space without extending their lease at the previous location.
